Trigger point release techniques for the lats and teres major. These muscles meet behind the armpit and function to bring the arm down and internally rotate the shoulder. Trigger points in the teres major and lats can cause pain in the posterior deltoid and the mid and upper back. Trigger points caused by overuse of these muscles can also inhibit your ability to reach your arm all the way up and forward. Activities that involve strong downward arm movements such as swimming, tennis, pitching, and gymnastics can strain the lats and teres major. So if you participate in any of these sports or encounter activities of daily life that involve repetitive motions of the arm this will be a good technique for you.
