There are three types of food that we consume daily to grow, stay strong and prevent diseases. The first type is Grow food which can be found in eggs, milks, meat (Beef, Pork, Chicken, Duck, Fish etc.), grains such as peanuts, soybean, kidney bean etc. Grow food help build body and keep us alive.
Things to Know: You should eat more fishes because they can help you prevent from heart disease, improve memory, release stress, improve brain growing, make hair and skin healthy.
Avoiding : When you eat a lot of meats exceeding requirement, it may cause to have Uric Acid and may lead to weaken your bones.
Second type is Go Food which can be found in foods which contain a lot of glucose such as rice, noodles, bread, potato, corn, taro, honey, sugarcane, sugar and any foods which contain a lot of oil such as coconut, cooking oil and meat oil. Go Food is to provide energy to us to work daily. Human need energy differently according to gender, age, build and activity. Human not only need energy to exercise but human also need energy all time even while we sleep.
What to Know: If we consume Go Food exceeding to our body’s demand, those energy components will cause you to be fat.
Avoiding Thing: Rice is good source of energy and it is main food for Cambodian daily diet. However, eating too much rice can make us full too fast which we can’t eat other foods which contains good sources of Vitamin and nutrition to support our body.
Third type is Glow food which can be found in vegetables and fruits. Vegetables are included mushrooms, lettuce, yard-long bean, luffa gourds, ivy gourd, tomato, climbing wattle, pumpkin, wax gourd, carrot, cucumber, edible amaranth, bind weed etc. Fruits are included mango, jack fruit, orange, papaya, guava, watermelon, grape, banana, pineapple, pomelo, dragon fruit, longan etc. So, Glow Food play important role to help us prevent from other diseases, heal wound faster, and help patients to get recovery.
Things You Need to Know: We will have skin allergy, bleeding on lips, or gum bleeding if we don’t eat enough vegetables and fruits.
So, in this video, you will see me eating Otaheite Gooseberry which I pick at my backyard. Otaheite Gooseberry contains high source of Vitamin C which help prevent us from some diseases such as gum inflammation, gum bleeding, joint pain, cold, prolong life of patient with cancer and heal wound faster. If we lack of Vitamin C, it may lead us to bleed fast, blemishes on skin, exhausted and wound take longer to be healed. So it’s very important for us to eat daily fruits which contain high source of Vitamin C to prevent ourselves from diseases. Otaheite Gooseberry produces great taste when we eat it with hot/fire salt. That’s why Cambodians love eating it with spicy salt and it is usually popular among young women aged 18-30.
***Young adults should eat green vegetables such as edible amaranth, ivy gourd, soybean and red bean. Men should eat vegetables such as eggplant, tomato, garbage, broccoli, peppers and some fruits such as orange, mango and papaya more than women because these vegetables and fruits contain high sources of Vitamin C and Vitamin K. Whereas women should eat water morning glory, mushrooms, pork, beef and chicken which contain high sources of iron nutrient because they loose blood during menstruation period.
*** Good Food Diet and regular exercise help us live longer and healthy. Regular exercise help strengthen our bodies such as strengthen bones, reduce joint pain, improve memory, avoid brain dead, and make us feel fresh.
